Lithological description Nodular, brachiopod-rich limestone with thin argillaceous interbeds, passing upwards to fossiliferous argillaceous limestone with local devopment of fine-grained black limestone.
Age Middle Frasnian
Thickness 100-135 m in the type area
Area of occurrence Margin of the Brabant Parautochthon west of the Landenne Fault.
Type locality There is no stratotype for the whole Rhisnes Formation due to the lack of good outcrops in the type area. Type sections and parastratotypes were proposed for each member.
