Lithological description Greenish or purple shale frequently finely micaceous, with calcareous brachiopods coquina beds and several oolitic ironstone horizons.
Age Late Frasnian-Early Famennian
Thickness 20-40 m in the type area
Area of occurrence Central part of the Brabant Parautochthon, from the Orneau River valley to Vezin, in the Haine–Sambre–Meuse Overturned Thrust sheets and in the Campine Basin (where identified as the Falisolle Formation).
Type locality The historical locality, in the park of the Franc-Waret castle has disappered. A parastratotype is designated by Mottequin et al. (2024) along the railway east of the Huy train station.
